Well, is there a chance that your car is really overheating?

Replace your thermosdate and bleed the cooling system for air. Did you check to see if your low on water/anifreeze.

i thought that but it happens like less than 5 min after its started the engine dosent even feel hot .i was told it could be the thermostat being stuck. im gonna see if i can find the trouble shooting for it. my original gauge got damaged and a friend had on from an extra cluster but he said he wasnt sure if he pulled the needle off of it. come to think of it the needle is pointing to at like 1/4 above the C (i love laptops and wireless internet) but any thoughts/ ideas are apreciated.

the only way to test it is pull it out and put it in a pot of water on the stove.

if your temp gauge shoots to hot as soon as you turn the key, then your temp gauge is bad. Someone turned the screw to tight behind the cluster and broke the little coil on the post.

just get a another gauge if that's your problem.

gauge is broken...i had that happen to me...i bought the car and after 5 min...temp gauge spiked all the way up...even when engine was still cold....replace the gauge and you're good...after replacing the gauge with a known good one just make sure your car is not REALLY overheating

i'm talking about my stock gauge...thats the one that was broken and spiked up...i couldn't find another stock one so i did wire up a autometer and it was fine....

but i found a cluster and i swapped out my cluster now and took the autometer out...now the stock gauge works perfectly

o if u use a autometer one...U CANNOT use the stock sending unit...different resistance....i tried and the autometer will spike up too...u have to use the autometer sending unit for autometer gauge. just run a separate wire to the gauge. stock gauge use the stock sending unit
