I was thinking about swaps on the way down here and I was just wondering.
Why does nobody swap the element motors? People always taking the B20Z's outta the CRV's and slapping a VTEC head on it and calling it a day.
Why aren't people taking the 2.4L motors out of the elements and swapping them into civics?
Or is that the K24 I keep hearing about? Or is that outta the RSX Type-S or whatever the "super" RSX version was...?
Please note: I did absolutely NO research on this topic and telling me to search is as good as not posting at all because I don't particularly care. I'm just curious for somebody to fill me in here.

the element has a k24 as well. and a lot of people do swap them with a k20 tranny out of an rsx type s.
im thinkin about loosing the ls vtec and going k series...most likely the k24. but im not too sure yet.
i am pretty sure k24 is out of the element (tsx too i guess.)

i know the k series motor is far more superior to the b series, but it just seems like too much money for one, not to mention the work it takes just to get it in the car and up and runnning.
the b series is just a straight bolt in, a plug n play!

dont forget the problems about smogging and passing bar with a k, which i have yet to see been done legally. The only thing i have herd is turning it into a flex fuel vehicle, which seems like a pain

yea b series are the **** anyways, but my buddy just picked up a k20 w/ tranny our of an rsx-s at a junk yard for 1500 and the shop by my house is only chargin like a 1000 to drop it and get an ecu. so...the deals are out there. just gonna find em. prices are coming down slowly. remember....b series used to be expensive as hell. now every broke chunth on my car has a ricer that goes sorta fast.

actually one guy got it to pass in an eg. it was a k20 from an rsx. but...he swapped over the engine and EVERYTHING from the engine bay (exact wiring) as well as cutting the rear of the car up to run the rsx gas tank and fuel pump and he even swapped the dash (i doubt this had anything to do with passing it). but yea to pass legally that is a lot of work and more importantly a lot of money. besides....my ls vtec doeswnt pass either so when i pick up a motor swap and start to build...i dont really worry about passing. i guess its just the risk you take. with with the 5000-6000 you're going to spend on dropping a k series (a STOCK k-series) you could buy and turbo an lsvtec or a b20 vtec. so...i guess its just in pure bling factor. k series motors are just status icons. lol.
imma stick w/ my lsvtec unless i find a k series for cheap. my buddy MIGHT be swapping out the k series in his EP for a tsx motor....so i'll take his k20 for cheap. he said about 1500 bucks. so...thats cool and it has intake header and cams i think.

I believe you don't hear about it because only one of the K24 motors will take a K20 head without having to swap out the stock pistons, and I think it was the K24A1 from the Accords.

Ah thanks guys.
Pretty much got what I was looking for. Yeah, I didn't know there were so many types of K engines.
Expensive *** swap though (and i had no intentions of doing it, I was simply wondering about it).
As far as BAR goes, NY, baby, no BAR, emissions, or CARB crap here as long as you're 95 or <.
Though even if you're 96+ the emissions tests aren't bad - NOWHERE near where u guys have to sell ur right ******** to get your car to pass in Cali
.
Seriously had no idea there was this many K motors...******* new cars, jeez.
Oh well, as time progresses the swap will go down in price and become more popular as things are created to ease the process.

Only the k24a2 out of the tsx and k24a1 out of the element will take a type s head without swapping out the pistons. And people do use the k24 out of the elements, heres a video of a k24a1/k20 turbo. http://videos.streetfire.net/s...1.htm
