yep, you do need to change to a 88-89 bumper support, I would get the hf one as well, thats the one I have, I like it quite a bit.

well if you already have a 90+ bumper support there is no reason to buy a 88-89...the bumper lights will clear....
also i have an 88 bumper on my 91 hatch and the little plastic sliders by where the bumper meets the fender/wheel well opening are different...i didnt have the right sliders so i just ziptied mine and it looks kinda funny...if you can find the appropriate sliders pick em up

oh yeah 88-89 bumper looks way tighter too

Not trying to start an arguement but, I have a 91 dx, and it was in a light front end collision, so I got a 88-89 bumper support, and it did not fit onto my 91, but if they will thats cool, it just didnt work for me.

it will fit if ur gonna use the 88-9 bumper...but if you wanna use a 90+ bumper its not gonna fit cuz of the size of the openings for the bumper light...
for instance i got a 91 hatch with a 91 support and an 88 bumper...no issues...
a 91 with an 88 support and a 91 bumper wont work.
pretty much a 90+ support will support both bumper styles but an 88 will only support the 88 bump...make sense now?
