o.k.......WHAT THE HELL?
Car:1990 Civic, hatch.D15 with M.P.F.I. swap.(head has been milled down .028")
Scenario:Started car.Plunk.Sounded almost like a dead igniton, but more like something was stopping the motor from turning over mechanically.Try again.Plunk.WTF??When it did start on the 3rd try, it ran like it was only on three cylinders.Wouldn't go ten feet without almost dying. Also pours white smoke(maybe water?).It isn't oil burning I know that from smelling since I owned the car.
Any ways-Pulled one plug wire at a time.Didn't change a thing.Did a compression test. Now because the head has been shaved off a few thousands, I expected some more than usuall compression readings. But #3 cylinder(second to the right from the distributor) reads 240!The rest of them read 210....Once again-wtf?
I left the gauge on it to do a leak down test on it tonight.A friend of mine who has the same set up on his EF said when his did this in the exact same way he dropped a valve.I dunno, any advice is welcome at this point.
Thanks-

if your seeing 200+ comp numbers you did not drop a valve. if its new the rings might not have broke in yet so no big deal. check your spark plugs. set your valves. and drive it hard. either it will blow or it wont.
With there being a 30 point difference in that one cylinder....not really sure. But it isnt right. Pull the valve cover. Is your cam still intact? That leaktest should tell you for sure whats going on. Next step would be to pull the head back off.
