Default Help on going the n/a route??

What would be the most cost effective all motor setup for my 89 Si? It will be a more or less a daily driver but i want something fast and fun. I may look into turbo someday, but for now i just want to be all motor and boltons.

Thanks

Thanks for the help guys, but also i was planning on getting a motor swap. Which motor would be good for me to get, and that could be turbo'd in the future without major modifications to the engine?

start with the usual i/h/e and maybe lightened flywheel for a good rev response. Once you touch the cams/cam gears...it's like opening a can of worms. It's not good to just change em and stop there. There's the issue of replacing the valvesprings, retainers and possibly valve guides. And since the head is already being upgraded, why not get it ported and polished. Motion assemblies may need to be changed too, but I'm not sure about this when putting higher lift cams. They say the engine makes a ticking sound if not replaced...And when the head is in the machine shop for a couple of weeks...might as well get the bottom done too...It never ends buddy. But getting there is as fun as being there! I think, because I ain't there yet either, lol...

Nah... dont get any of these bolt ons!!! If you do a swap... some of these parts might not work. Like you wont need a header if you go turbo... so why pay 300 for something your not going to have use for?
If I were you.. I would do my swap first... leave it stock. Mod the suspension.. then add the F/I last.
I'd go B18B... its most likely a low milage engine. or if you can get a B18A really cheap.. do thatbut make sure te motor isnt too warn down. You can boost on the stock internals. At the same time.. until you get the turbo.. th B18 in N/A form is still fun to drive.
