Default ecu / chip question

i just recently found a guy that owns a dyno and does tuning. i'll admit, i'm a complete newb to chipping / programming, so i don't know what i need to pick up so he can tune my vehicle. like, what am i looking for, a new ECU, some kinda piggypack device, a chip, or what. i'm not looking for any ridiculious power gains or anything, i just want to know if there's a piggyback ecu or something that i can buy to get a little more power out of my motor.

any help is greatly appreciated.

thier are many things you can do...you send your computer out to JetChips..tell them ur mods and then well put a chip in for you...or you can get a P28 Ecu and get it chipped...from a place that does that stuff by you...or you can get a Apexi Super AFC(piggyback)....or for all the big dogs out thier u can get AEM EMS...those are your options

ok, so, i see what many options are. thank you. now, when searching for this ecu, say i want to go with the chipped p28, so i have to search for it for my specific vehicle, or will a simple "OBD1 P28" do? sorry if this is a dumb question, but like i said, i am rather new at the whole 'chip' / 'fuel management' thing.

thanks in advance for any help.
