There are some stickies in the wheel and tire forum about polishing rims and painting rims(which includes stripping them)

it does take a lot of time...you can't just magically have something change, it takes work. If you're too lazy to spend a couple hours polishing them yourself, take them somewhere.

If you aren't then use paint remover or aircraft stripper first, and then various grits of sandpaper starting with a coarser grit and working your way down. There's several write ups in the appearance section.

airplane paint stripper.
Sold at autozone about 6 or 7 bucks a can which works for roughly two wheels. Let it sit for about 40 minutes. Definately use hard plastic scraper.

Sorry that is as far as I have gotten. Haven't actually painted yet. Mine were f'd up so stripping and repainting.

Good luck.

your a moron, rota makes decent wheels, the only gripe people have is they copy other well known designs. next time keep what you hear to yourself and post what you know, that would be more helpful.

to the op, you can buy a set thats already polished and just sell yours, i think it would be much easier, even if you loose a couple bucks your saving a lot of time.

why would you take the time to polish them if you're painting them red?

do you comprehend the difference?

I had to read what he said a couple times..... I'm assuming that he was saying Rotas suck as far as stripping not as far as quality of wheel.

saying rotas suck is like telling the world that chicken doesnt taste good. We all know that chicken tastes good, and were all gonna look at you like youre crazy.

Sure it might be a little played out, and you might get sick of it now and then, but chicken is here to stay no matter what.

haha nice.
everyones always talking about how slips are played out and too common...the truth is that they may be common on H-T, but how often do you see a hatch driving around the streets in slips? atleast in my city, i NEVER see that. so while it may be common on our little community online, everyone else in your city has probably never seen them before. just my opinion..

What's gonna happen is all the people rockin the slips are gonna switch wheels because they think slips are too played out. What you gotta do though is stick it out, remain true to the slips cause in the end maybe ill be one of the few people still rockin em

Yeah, they actually look good. I'll see if the owner will post pictures of them on the car. He posted those pictures over on http://www.jdmcivic.com so that's where I'd check first.
