I'm just about ready to turbo my LS but I'm curious if a VTEC tranny would help or hinder. I had a YS1 on my all motor B20 Integra and it was cool, except for 5th gear cruising speeds. How would a VTEC trans affect daily driving in a 250whp Integra? Thanks.
Ah I'd be BSing if I tried to answer that question as I've been riding on stock suspension since 2000 (quarter mile racing with the rocking of the whole car = P )...Try the drag racing forum for tips on that one...I know traction bars are out there for the teg and that would definately help out
Go to the Forced Induction forum and you will get more answers.
But my OPINION is that a gsr..b16..or type r tranny wont keep the rpms in the LS's power band unless your reving over 7K. Vtec trannies are geared for high revving engines...the LS tranny is not...The LS motor (unless built) is not a high revving motor as we all know.
But just my .02
(P.S... sorry for the bad spelling...been at work all day)

cool opinion...but track times say that your opinion is faulty
...Its not an OPINION that the b16 transmission significantly drops quarter mile times on an otherwise stock (Still going to 7k) LS

true...but if youre in a range where the spinning can be controlled with upping the rubber, then it will net the faster time

Exactly one of those other factors i was thinking off , fwd and 440 ft/lbs would make for some good smoke shows and thats about it

Yeah, the b16 trans I had in my last DA did a good job for daily driving around town, but that trip on the freeway to and from work everyday sucked. I just couldn't get used to reving that high and going so slow. But it was nice to actually have some pull in 5th. Does anyone know the top speed an LS would make with a B16 tranny on it? I raced my friends BMW 325Ci at El Mirage and it seemed to run out of room at 135mph. Is this correct? Thanks.

Not really, but you can f' things up rather quickly if you dont know what youre doing. Its not a beginner type task.
