Bright White Headlight Bulbs
Car Facts: 2005 Accord EX-V6
The dealer told me today that installing bright white headlight bulbs in place of the factory bulbs can fry the wiring, resulting in replacing the entire wiring harness? Has anyone heard of this or had it happen to them?

They are brighter because the filament glows hotter. This shortens the service life at the least. Melting wiring harnesses?? I doubt it, although the connector could be subject to higher than designed temps.
me n all my friends have these one's that have an HID look to em... they're kinda kool blue but bright as hell n none of us have had problems with em... we gotta brand call farenheight... I dont think I spelled it right but yeah thas them... lol
It happed to my 5th gen Civic EX sedan. Had the eBay specials! H4s were pretty bright, yet they would blow every six months or so. There are two wires a black and a red, ground and power so to say, that run from the harness to the bulb that screws into the socket. Those wires melted, not the actual harness but those two guys
Advanced auto sold some APC H4 harness its bright yellow and hangs on the wall in the ricer section, (this was over 3 years ago) I replaced the entire harness with this, and all was well. A $40 dollar hassle to say the least.

Sounds like you're talking about a relay harness kit...it allows the headlight bulbs to get full battery power (unlike losing some going through the wiring)..and use what was plugged into the bulb energize the relay. I made a kit like this on my jetta but it took too much time and almost cost the same as buying one.

Don't use silverstars as it's the us version and not the real Silverstar by osram. Many ppl have said that silverstars are terrible in the rain.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I've been using silverstars for a long time, they seem find to me. But what about that new line of lights that sylvannia came out with, they said they're even brighther than silverstars.

Yea, the Xtravisions are a really nice upgrade. I installed a set in my gf's mom's 03 Camry after we pulled the HID kit out and I have to say I was really impressed with the light output. I then installed a set in my 05 WRX and it's a great way to see at night until I get my retrofit.
As for the silverstars, from what I've read, the Slvania ones aren't the real version as offered by Osram in europe or something. I think it's on Daniel Stern lighting or something. The silverstars in the US are just coated bulbs or something. I'll see if I can dig up the thread.

Silverstars are good, but they are bright white, if you looking for a blueish tint, I reccomend EuroDesignz, I got the on eBay for about $20 Shipped, and Ive had them in my 5th gen for about 5 months now with NO problems, they don't even get that hot, no hotter than my stock bulbs, but are a nice bright white with a slight blue tint.
if your blind as a bat like me don't get anything blue tinted. They make everything 10x harder to see. Silverstars are a great alternative, very effective white lighting. And as far as the pairing question goes, its a no. You have to buy two seperate sets. One for high and one for low.
I have Phillips Ultra blue Low beams. They are pretty nice actually, they aren't as bright as I would like but they have a bluish tint to them not REAL blue, mostly white. I have Sylvania Cool Blues for Highs and love them.
I used to run the cool blues in my low beam with a 9005 conversion and I gotta say, for the price it's not bad, but the blue tint cuts down on visability on the road especially on rainy nights..
