Im looking into lightweight pulleys right now. It will be on an h22a block. I originally wanted a fluidampr because its supposedly "safer". I looked into them and their weight difference is very minimal i believe. SO wuts the point in spending $300+ for a crank pulley ? What is the benefit of running that vs the stock pulley ?
Now my other question is regarding damage and a lightweight crank pulley such as Unorthodox pulleys. My car isnt going to be street legal so pretty much isnt going to see too many miles. But when it is out 99% or the time will be the track. Im droping alot of money into the bottom end (stroker kit) and dont want it to be wasted money. If it isnt a daily do you think i will have a problem ? Has it been proven to cause damage ?
Basicly i figure before something like this causes damage i will probably have to rebuild anyway by that point. What do you guys think ?

Lightweight pulley's/flywheel's don't create power (common misconception). The effect is simply the motors ability to accelerate/decelerate quicker. I think the possible negative effects highly outweigh the minimal benefit of a lightweight pulley. They can add unnecessary, undampened stress to the oil pump gear. Running an undampened crank pulley is just plain old unintelligent and any reputable builder will tell you the same.
Now, shedding weight from the piston/rod combo...that is a whole 'nother story.

There's a BIG difference between 110 wtq B16B and a 160 wtq H22a.
Honestly, a lightened crank pulley has little to no advantage over a stock one. If I were you, i'd get some more opinions though.

a fluidampr and a light weight crank pulley are two totally different things. the light weight pully acts just like a light weight flywheel where the fluidampr eliminates harmonics and is "said" to increase power at higher rpms. much like the heavier type R crankshaft compared to the GSR crank.
regarding oil pump failure i am of the opinion that while they might be related to pulleys its not a cause and effect like some people belive. i think theres alot more to it.
