Default 88 crx body parts on 90 crx?

I know they are from the same gen. but at the same time there are many parts from the 88 that wont fit the 89-91 crx. What Im looking at are the fenders and bumper from an 88 si. Do these fit the 90 si?

im sure you already noticed that the 88 has thicker moldings correct?

since this topic was made ill ask a question i was wondering on the same topic.

i have a 91 with 88 front bumper, and an 88 parts car, does anyone know if you can take the side trim off of an 88 and swap it out with the 91 trim? would make my car look like an 88 with all thick trim other than the rear bumper if it would work.

I didnt notice the side moldings being thicker in any way. But that puts a damper on some of the parts I was hopeing to buy. How different are the side skirts? Would they just look way off if I were to put those on my 90 rex with the stock moldings for that year?

If U use the fenders,U have to use that same year side markers so they fit properly.Ive done it.The doors from the inside are different. The seat belts are in a different location. The 88-89 seat belts are mounted on the wall behind the door and the 91 are mounted on the door panels.Good Luck,Darrell

Not all 89's had pillar mounted seatbelts.

To the OP, just do the following.

Get 88-89 bumpers(front and rear)
88-89 Side Moldings
If you're getting 88-89 fenders be sure to get 88-89 corner markers. Personally I wouldn't swap fenders. Just swap the moldings that are on the fenders with those of an 88 89. It will save you alot of headache.

You can slap on the fenders and front bumper of an 88 on your 90 si but it won't match 100% with the moldings that the 90 originally came with.

I know because I did the exact opposite with my 89. I got all the parts of a 91 crx and did a conversion.

Looking back on that, I should have stuck with the 88-89 style. It looks better IMO.

It really sucks because Im looking for 90-91 crx si fenders, bumper, and some side moldings. But only one guy has gotten back to me that he has the parts, but they are for an 88 crx. Junk yards dont have jack for crx's that Ive been to. So Im not sure exactly what to do. I would love to stay with 90-91 fenders and stuff but from the lack of fenders and bumpers around I might be forced to do the 88 crx fenders and stuff.

The aftermarket fenders the Certifit sells are cheap and I've seen them on many hondas, they look and fit as good as OEM from what I have seen. I think the fenders are only like $40.00ea. and the bumper is around $125.00 (can't really remember the price exactly). i don't know if certifit is natiowide or not but I am sure there are other aftermarket suppliers for OEM hondas body parts, just look online and check body shops.

I have never heard of certifit. the only other non oem fenders ive seen is the fiberglass fenders with the "air vents" and all of those look like **** and ive heard they fit like ****. Ill have to do a search for the certifit fenders. 40 bucks each sounds good to me.

Well here is some help, their number is 1-800-263-2254. I know they sale wholesale and to the public as well. I am sure they ship nationwide to. Give them a call after the holidays and they will hook it right up

Ive actually done some research and heard that the catch is that they dont ship. I happened to research their number a little too late. I have to call them up on monday. And the part of their site for listing parts and how much they cost is under construction. So I hope I will be able to get all the parts I need through them.

For reference: All '88-91 CRX fenders (the actual metal fender) are the same. The corner markers attach to two little clips that clip into each fender. '88-89 corner marker clips (screw-in type) and '90-91 corner marker clips (slide-in type) will interchange on the fenders - they just snap in and out. Same goes with moldings - the moldings are different thicknesses from '88-89 to '90-91, but they both attach to the same fender. Side skirts are the same regardless of year.

Headlight brackets are different because of the different mounting methods for the corner markers. Bumpers will interchange, but bumper signals must correspond to bumper year - '90-91 bumper signals will not fit in an '88-89 bumper and vise versa. As mentioned, the "moldings" on the bumper covers (which are actually a molded part of the cover) are different thicknesses.
