Engine cuts out
I have a 2004 civic EX manual transmission. On the way into work this morning, every few minutes or so i would hear a clicking noise coming from under neath the glove box area and the engine would cut out for a split second and come back without stalling, but causing some bucking. The tac drops to 0 and the check engine light comes on, then goes off when the engine comes back to life. Also, my maintenance required light has been on and it will not go off from following the instructions in the manual. Any idea whats going on?
happened to me, it would repeat this every minute or so (stutter, tach to 0rpm, then back to normal). the clicking is a relay in the glove compartment area.
my issue was a messed up ECU, i had to get it replaced. your problem might be something else. first step before taking it to a shop might be to check out whats causing the check engine light and go from there...
this is definitely something you should go to honda or any shop to fix, not something we can diagnose by you telling us what it going on. i'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with the maintenance required light as the light is programmed to come on at a certain mileage.
