Default questions from a recent accord buyer

hi, this is my first time posting here, but hopefully i'll gain some valuable info on my recent purchase of an 01 ex v6 accord sedan (grandma gold).

things i wanna do and some questions:

tint windows-i don't like too dark, would 15% give me good visibility at night? how much should i look to pay to get it done professionally?

system-i already swapped out my 6 disc (ugh, i loved the factory look, but no ipod integration) for my kenwood heat unit, and the next step is installing my infinity kappa perfect 6.1s. the only problem is that i know nothing about crossovers and the like, i'm no good at removing door panels/drilling into plastic for flush mounting of the tweeters, and i don't know that much about systems to begin with. is there any way to regain the functionality of the volume up/down buttons on the steering wheel with an aftermarket head unit?

radar detector- since i already have a clock on the cd player, i was wondering how hard it would be to replace the factory clock with a radar detector.

bike rack- i also recently took up bicycling as a hobby. i'd like to find a trunk mounted rack that could carry 2-3 bikes. should i look for this on ebay?

cai- i love the quietness of the car, and i have fretted from this because i didn't wanna sacrifice ride quality in favor of a louder exhaust note. i'm pretty sure there will be little to no hp gains, but have been surprised at how much of a difference one can make on certain cars. will it sound nicer?

thanks!

As far as tint goes it just depends what you are used to. I don't have any tint on my car and my Wife's has 35% (Oregon Legal Limit) and even that bugs me at night.

Not sure about the stereo stuff..

I have seen a few honda's with radars in the clock and it looked great. Never a 6th Gen accord though. Search in the ITR forum, one guy that did it and had a website dedicated to he R (can't remember the address though) with DIY and stuff.

There should be plenty of bike racks available and ebay is fine as long as you know what you are looking for. Check out a couple racks at stores and then try to score them on ebay for cheap.

I threw a SRI on my 5th gen accord when I got it and now I kind of wish I didn't. The sound is cool at first but it gets old and I sure didn't notice any hp gains. I have heard a few V6 accords with an intake and exhaust I really liked the sound though.

Finally make sure you deal with any transmission issue now before it goes bad. Not sure if you are aware but the V6 auto trans tended to fail earlier than average and I think your car may have a warrenty to 100k.

Anyways good luck and enjoy your honda..

15% tint is very dark haha, 35% is a decent amount I wouldn't go much darker than 20%

ahh thanks for the awesome info! i had no idea about the tranny, i think i might have the dealership take a look at that. i have noticed that there is quite a delay in throttle response, but i'm not sure because my old car was a automatic 98 saturn sl2 (1.9L dohc) but it didn't show that much of a delay.

20% is the normal tint. Although it is illeagal in most states. I have yet to get a ticket myself.
Normal maket price is around $150 for 5 windows.

You could get a chambered muffler that flows better and is as quiet as you want. You'll need to reaserch a little before hand to find the one you'll want.

If your talking about Sylvania Silverstars, those are a 4000k white, not blue.

This topic has come up a number of times, but if you buy halogen bulbs that are colored blue, You could well get a ticket as the light is not supposed to be colored at all.
( ....like If they say: 6000k 9006 halogen bulb, they are not DOT legal in most cases)

H.I.D. lights are acutally white with a blueish prism effect. That's why those are DOT legal.

cool blue is another line, a cheaper niche of the sylannvia brand.

cool blue is actually "less yellow" for 9006, don't get them. i have a set back in the ricer day, they still work after 3 years of service.(but again, i am sure oem will last that long too)

get a AEM short ram, its cheap and will make the cars engine note sound much more aggresive, it wont really do anything to performance, but its cheap and is still better than stock

yeah, it should have but maybe the light is burned out or something. But why even let the gas get that low? Why not fill up when it gets to 1/4 tank or something?
