VIN #s
To make sure the VIN of the engine matches the chassis is simple.
Look at the engine code (d15b7, d16z6, b18a1 as examples) and under that engine code is a set of numbers. Those are the numbers that the DMV runs to make sure the engine is legit.
Any Officier also can do this, just explain whats going on.
The chasis VIN is located on the driver side dashboard (visable from the outside), and along the firewall on the driver side, just left of the brake mastercylinder. Check those and make sure those are the same too.
