VIN / Engine Code
Hi Im from malta and got a used Honda civc 1992 3dr 1.5l vtec but i dont know which type of engine.
Now in my logbook i've got
VIN Number with 10 characters only not 17. starting with EG4**** why's that?
and i dont have the engine code either, and i think there's something wrong.
i dont even know if its a vti or other model.
is there any help how to get the engine code number by the VIN number if its good or at least the model?
thanks in advance.

Re: VIN / Engine Code (vikingu)
when facing the engine, where the motor and the trans bolt together there is a small flat spot on the motor that has the engine code. (ex. "D15Z1" or "D16Z6")
that is your engine code.
that is your engine code.

I believe it's going to be a variety of D15B (perhaps D15B2?), but I'm not 100% sure. Check the block code like jdmracer12 mentioned.
The reason your VIN is not 17 digits long is because it's not a post 1980 North American issues VIN.
Your serial number (VIN) for the car is probably also stamped on the firewall. In the rectangle in this image. The block code or engine code will be stamped on the little flat plate that the arrow is pointing at.
Oh, and before anyone asks, this is a European '96-'00 D14Z1 in this photo.

Don't mistake the car being made in Japan as it being JDM. JDM cars have serial numbers, but they're not like a VIN. Is there a blue tag on the core support?
