Default JUN III's and Ferrea valvetrain vs Skunk2 stage 2's with Skunk valvetrain??

This would be going in my JDM GSR with 12.5:1 CR. Ive heard good things about both. Keep in mind this will be a DAILY driver with little track time, if any.

Thanks for the input!

I would say the cost difference would outweigh the negligable difference in power.

but that is coming from my opinion on their products for the H22

Skunk2=cheaper JUN

I think skunk2 is really the good stuff to buy right now.

skunk2 does seem to be reasonably cheaper. Does Skunk make anything more aggressive than the stage 2?

What about Skunk 2 stage 2 w/valvetrain VS. Crower stage 2 race core w/valve train?

Thats what I cand decide on.

Skunk makes stage 3 but i'd stick with either Skunk stage 2's or JUN stage 3's

Crower's VTEC cams... uh... suck would be the polite word.

What are you basing that on? Did your cusins best friens brothers friend brake a set?

I know they had some problems in the begaining, but they have changed them, and I am talking about the new Vtec race core, not the normal Crower vtec cam.

I don't even think anyone on this board has them yet.

Do skunk's stage 3's idle poorly or something? Too race oriented?

Thats a pretty high CR you have there for daily driving!!!
I'd get the skunk... I'm not too fond of there coilovers and someother product they make. But the valves, retainers, and cams seem to be pretty good quality. Its cheaper the JUN and pretty close quailty wise.

Every motor is different and responds to cams differently. Just because Skunk2 works well for SOME set-ups doesn't mean it will work for ALL set-ups. Whatever engine mangement/ecu you go with also effects the effectiveness of the cam in a huge way. I know someone who made more power with ctr cams than Toda Spec B's.

Skunk's really good. JUN's really good ... and tried and tested. If you dont care about the extra cost get the JUN's.

Very true Halo.

Also, the stage 3 Skunk2 cams are pure race cams. If you will look at the specs of the stage 2 cams you see that they are identical to those of the Jun3s. I don't think you would want to get any more radical than those two choices for a street engine.

some informatin that you forgot to include about your set up.....

1.Headwork, if any, and how extravagant?
2.Valve size (if not stock)
3.Intake manifold modifications?
4.Redline?
5.Part of the rev-band where you power increase is most wanted
6.Any nitrous?

redline i ahve seen the skunk 2's make power till the mid 9500 area.
head work a nice 5 angle valve job is good.
match port the intake manifold.
rev band depends on your race. road racing mid and low. drag mid high
n20=gay. but fast

1) Stock for now. Portflow P&P when i get the valvetrain done. 5 angle valve job
2) Stock valves
3) Skunk2 with portmatches TB.
4) 8200-8500
5) Mid-range
6) 50 shot four fogger at most... chances are none at all

Oh you mean their new cores which they straight up tried to copy the TODA core design of having big non-vtec lobes? those fools at Crower have no shame, their idea of R&D is buying a TODA or JUN cam and trying to copy it.

I have a graph showing a comparison with Skunk vs Jun. This will open some eyes!

I've got a pair of blank Crower RACE VTEC cores. Cool ****.
