Anyone watch the '06 SCCA National Championship Runoffs?
In Topeka,Kansas E production if im not mistaken..Awesome race!! Lawrence Loshak beat up on rx7s,240z's,Caterhams and Miatas i believe, in his Prelude. Loshak started in 2nd position. A few crashes in the beginning caused a yellow flag to come out. On the restart Loshak dropped back to 6th due to an engine bobble, but he charged up thru the field and ended up taking first place. It was a great race, i was on the edge of my seat most of the time and man that prelude has some power..he was pulling on those cars in the straight everytime

If you liked that race you should check out the GT-Lite race from the Runoffs.
A mugen powered tube frame CRX finished 1st and 3rd and there were several other CRX's in the race also. It was a great race for 2nd and 3rd place between a Mini and the CRX. 1st place CRX was a runaway. They had at least a 25 second lead for awhile.

While I think they're cool, it's hard for me to think of GT-class CRXs as...CRXs. Tube frame track monster, sure. Econobox Honda? Not so much.

Yeah, definitely an exciting race, one of the better from the runoffs that I've seen.. esp. since I have the same body style Prelude
Now everyone will want one!
After watching that I played the BTCC race from Monday that I tivo'ed, and man those guys are completely insane. Awesome no-fear racing. Plus some 1-on-1 time with VBH for the winners...

I watched that race and was uber impressed by the straight line speed of the Prelude. It seems the rules favored the Prelude being both FF and 4 banger. It was def a well sorted out car with a strong motor, and importantly great drive from its pilot!

They have more stock CRX parts in them than you would think. Rear axles, engine, trans, front axles, roof, doors, windshield, steering gear, radiator and a million other stock parts. Yes it is a tube frame chassis but, pretty cool none the less and the best part is I get to race one of them!

Yea the lude deffinately had a lot of power..It would easily pull on the other cars out of corners and down the straights..And it really started to shine when it started raining..but the last lap it got very close as the rain apparently stopped and Thrash(rx7?) almost passed the prelude in the last corner but somehow he held onto it!

If my memory serves me correctly that Prelude was for sales at the begining of the year for $75,000 with spares. He also had a very good chance at winning at the 2005 Runoffs until he was put off while leading

Most of the high dollar GT lite cars are rear drive, at least they were in GT4 and GT5. Jamie Housman builds custom gear boxes for them, they flipped the rear axle over to account for the different rotation of the Honda engine and we build headers that look like 1/2 of a standard V8 set. Double A arm front suspension and so on.
Here's one I built for a rear drive GT CRX.

I think the driver is moving to ILMS next year.

I've pitted for Greg Ira (the 4th place 240z) when he ran his old ITS 240z in the 12 hour race at homestead (we won our class BTW
) The car (ITS car in the hands of his friend Guy Marvin) still has one of my old rear drums in the rear from when he cracked one at an enduro this year.
He runs a good team and is a VERY good driver.

I watched the EP race from turn 8 as the yellow flagger. My arm was very tired afterwards. (that's me in Sportscar) I am SO glad no one was injured when the Rx7 mounted the Caterham.
