Default Exhaust Problem - Please help

Just installed the Apexi WS2 catback exhaust on my 99GSR and I have a slight problem. The bottom of the shifter hits the new exhaust pipe, just slightly. I think it is because I have the skunk 2 short shifter installed, which lowers the shifter slightly from stock. I only need maybe 1/2" extra clearance. Is there an easy way to lower that section of the exhaust? I was thinking either find longer rubber hangers, or just take it to an exhaust specialty shop and see what they can do?

Thanks

don't hack up the new exhaust, re-install the shifter the right way...theres many people with skunk2 shifters and exhaust.

What do you mean the right way? It worked fine with both my stock exhaust and Greddy Evo. There has got to be an easy fix?

I believe so. I have it on the same hangers as the stock exhaust. Is it supposed to be on the curved hangers instead? I've currently got it on the stock exhaust hangers, the ones that have the little nubs on the end to keep the rubber from falling off. I wasn't sure what the curved hangers were for on the other side.

i have a sk2 short shifter and a turbo-back 3" straight pipe. shifts are fine cuz they are both installed correctly... however the only problem is speed bumps; flex pipe bottoms out on the speed bumps and whacks my shift linkage (ouch). but normal driving is just fine.

Why are you assuming I installed the shifter or exhaust incorrectly? This isn't rocket science. I imagine the shifter would not be working for the past 2 years if it wasn't in correctly.

Yeah I'm gonna go back under tomorrow. So you do use the hangers from the body that are straight and come to a point, correct? Not the curved ones...

Just readjust your hangers so the exhaust hangs away from the shifter. Not that hard to do.
