Default block guard how neccesary for N/A

So yah im a noob first honda ive been a gm guy my whole life so i am new to open decks. questions is how beneficial are block guards to n/a setups i mostly see them on fi.
if it helps for my application im builiding in a nutshell is a d16y7 with mostly stock bottom end with 2 layer
y8 vtec head w/ (springs, retainers, flat face valves, medium profile cam, p+p)
port match IM to head and b18 tb
arp studs
tuning with obd1 on crome
aprox 10.6-10.8 static comp.

Will it benifit me or just impead cooling and not worth it

any input appreciated even a thread link already covering it
thanks

Whats up sea bass glad to hear you joined the honda world. I was a honda man the past 10 yrs who then went to GM (motor side of things) but even b4 hondas i was into mini trucks haha young and dumb. Unless ur squirtin on that b20 block the block gaurd has no use. Those things are garbage and are better left to be used as a fancy family big gulp cup holder.

a block guard will probably not be necessary.
i would change out the rod bolts with ARP's before i did a guard.

speaking of the rod bolts i cant seem to find a definative answer to this but the arp bolts in stock rods do they require notching the block like h-beam rods from what i understandd the h-beam bolts dont clear without notching

no. no notching with the stock rods. with arp's bolts or not. i believe the h-beams are a lot wider, which requires notching.

notching the rods is not required however getting them resized w/ the bolts torqued and you will not have any issues.

I use block guards. Its cheap insurance, but do what you want.
