Unsure about my gas tank size
Well I have a 96 CX hatchback and I looked it up on Edmunds and it says 11.9 gallons. I don't believe it. Every time I fill up with my needle just hovering above empty I always put 9 gallons in. So what exactly is my gas tank's size. Could my needle be not reading right?
Thank you
Thank you
You can keep driving well past the 'E', trust me, I know. Also remember that there is a difference between total fuel capacity and total usable fuel. But if you are unsure just look it up in your owners manual, it says it right in there.

yes, and if you want to see these specs for yourself, check the inside sticker in the glovebox

Yes. The solution is to put the key to the 'on' for about 2-3 seconds and then start it. I think it has something to do with giving the fuel pump more time to prime.

Uhm... all cars are like that. When you hit E, you should have a couple gallons left, no matter what your driving.

This is true, and most cars, even have a LIGHT (my honda doesn't, boo) that's like "IDIOT, FILL UP UR TANK" and my '90 benz had a reserve tank, it would go like:
R...E.......1/2.......F
Ownage setup

First off, the Honda gas gauges are horribly inaccurate, they also got a foam float that makes them garble around w/ the gas level and make 'em change inaccurately.
Secondly, assuming it's 100% accurate, at "E" there is still ~1.5 - 2.5 gallons left.

the gauge moves up towards full drastically when going downhill and turning left. i had a half of a tank once in a 12 story parking garage and by the time i hit bottom it read a full tank. the needle is retarded.

Yes! Mine does the same thing.
Next time I get low I'm gonna try what the guy that quoted you first said and "prime" the pump a bit longer.
Good info, for me at least!

you know I've always done that out of habit from my last car. My brother told me to do that to help make the car start easier (now I know why) and plus it made my speedometer work correctly somehow for a few months until it was totally screwed.
I always turn my key to On not starting it, buckle up, then start it. I've always done it. It's just an unconscious motion. Same as me sticking my left foot on the brake in my mom's PT Cruiser or my manager's Corsica when trying to start it. Either that or I step on the floor real hard. Ouch.
