vtec on poor mans
or wat...
Why is everyone obsessed with loud vtec.... if you want loud vtec buy an exhaust flow controller and when vtec hits pull it wide open. Loud vtec does nothing and its a sign of a worn down motor. Chances are if its a poor mans type r its been ran the hell out of so you are probably going to have "loud VTAK"

I would hope a "type-r" motor would pull harder than a gsr considering they have more power. Then again it all depends on the car. My car doesn't feel like it pulls at all. If you rode in it and closed your eyes you would think it was the slowest thing alive but somehow I pull off 13 second ET's

Sadly many people think that a stock B16 head and ITR cams on a stock GSR block = poor mans type R. They somehow forget about the valves, valvesprings, intake manifold, throttle body, raised compression, P&P work, and ECU.

which is not really a poor mans type R. That term now apparently just means something to do with a PR3 head and GSR block....could be built with a turbo, its still a PMTR.....atleast thats the majority rule (not my personal opinion).
probably wouldnt be a 'poor mans' type r if it were built to full type r specs, ye?
some people just bolt on a stock b16 head on a gsr block and call it a day. i guess it makes a good low compression engine for boosting... but to answer the OPs question no, the poor mans type r is not going to have louder VTEC than your stock B18C1.
but if you really want people to know you've hit VTAK, hook up a big neon VTEC sign to your VTEC solenoid
Wouldn't that work?

To answer your question......It will most likely pull harder than a stock GSR motor......but it won't really pull much harder than a GSR with the same cams and an intake manifold as well as some tuning (s200)

... what i was asking is it going to pull harder then a gsr when vtec kicks in??
