sir-usdm comparison questions
i only have 2 questions as of now...more will probably come lol. are the axles that came OEM in Sir's the same as all other civic axles? and will a b16a1 tranny bolt up where my dseries tranny is mounted? i kno i would need motor mounts for this swap, but the tranny bolts into place of my current one correct?
The axels from the sir are different from any civic that is usdm because there was no b series made over here you can use the hubs depending on model but not axel. also you will need a different mount kit for fitting a b motor in a ef hasport, place racing,az ect makes them and you will need a rear mount from a 90-93 da integra to have proper mounts axels from integras work to.
if you use the hasport motor mount kit for the B16A, you can use 90-93 integra axles (but you have to have DX or Si hubs, HF or STD won't work). Just make sure to pop off the dust shields on the back of your civic hubs.
It's weird... i always thought you would use 90-93 da teg axles. But just about a week ago i know someone with a b16a motor in a ef hatch and he broke an axle. Bought a new one from autozone from a 90 Integra and it was too long. The Da integra axle is about a inch longer then the Sir jdm axle. What would make the difference, the halfshaft?
I have an EF hatch with B16A (hasport mounts), and I've been using DA axles for the last 2 years with no problems. I believe I used 92-93 axles, but as far as I know, they are the same from 90-93.
