shooting in RAW.

shooting in RAW.
i am not sure if this is where this belongs.
i shot some pictures in RAW with my 300D.
this is my first time doing so. i downloaded them and they are not being recongnized by my computer as pictures.
i went on canons website and pretty much downloaded every update and driver i could think of and nothing is working. now when i bought the camera it was second hand and i don't have the software cd. i did download the drivers and regular pics work. but no RAW. any suggestions or links to software that i can use?
