is there a site, faq or formula?

I am wondering how to decide the correct octane based on compression and timing

how do I do that?

I'm not aware of any calc that does that, I do know depending on the setup of the motor OHV vs OHC it'll be different, the wedge heads seem to not be as comp friendly oem as ohcs.

What is the exact setup you have in question or just want to learn more?

I do not have a built engine(see sig)
I just wanted to know
I have a JDM stock CR and I heard they run 97oct there
