Default How about an ECU kill switch?

I have been wanting to put a new kill switch on my car, i know everyone does a fuel cutoff or an ignition cutoff but thats too easy... Those are the first thing a thief looks for.

I was wondering how i could go about putting a switch that cuts power to the ECU. Or maybe the MAP sensor. I want a kill switch where, even if they brought their own ECU, and knew how to bypass fuel and spark, they still couldnt crank the car because i got a hidden switch for my map sensor or ecu. Is it possible? what wires would i have to tap into?

I was wondering, a kill switch whether to the ecu or fuel pump, it all depends on where you put it anyway. A thief will look for a kill switch yes, but if you make one for the ecu, it would be the same if you made it for the fuel pump too.
I'm not sure, but the ecu might be sensitive to power surges. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But anyway, the more kill switches the better I guess.

don't take this offensively, but this switch to the ecu would be a waste of time.
if you have a good alarm with back up battery & siren, along with cut-off switches, then he doesn't have time to look for switches while the alarm is going off in his ear.

then there is battery cut-offs and there is always is quick release steering systems. and if you're really paranoid like myself, there is always a more expensive route. you can get some type of recovery system (like lojack, onstar, clifford). which if you are really worried about thieves and have invested alot of time, money, and sweat, then nothing is too expensive.

i have had ecu cut offs on all my hondas and it has never done anythin to hurt the ecu. the way i do it is take the main fuse out of the fuse box under the dash and run wires from it to a fused switch and your done just hide it.

If your going to do an ecu kill put a fuse between your switch and the ecu, just to make sure you dont damage it. Just take the power wires and have at it.

Its better them taking it with a loud *** truck making alot of noise and causing attention then quietly with no one seeing.

I'm just glad I live in a very tiny and discreet town. Everyone knows everyone and we don't let certain "people" into the town. I am aware it can still happen but I at least don't have to be on edge as much as others.

Same, **** in my last town you could leave your doors unlocked regardless of where you went, didn't matter at all. You could leave it in a desolate parking lot for 2 weeks unlocked and nobody would touch it.

Even up here in Rochester there's like, maybe 1 break in on campus (into the cars) a month, not a lot.

well said - It's a civic, doesn't have automatic lockdown systems based on the wrong chipped key starting the car like my '01 GTI has. If somebody wants it bad enough - they'll get it.
