Default Aftermarket lugs on HX wheels?

As the title states. I've seen many threads with people saying that aftermarket (Muteki to be specific) lugs won't fit on oem wheels but I've owned a few different kinds of OEM wheels and these HX wheels I have look a bit different.

Basically...they look like they'll accept the tapered design of the Mutekis. If I had a set of OEM lugs with me I wouldnt even ask the question but before I roll to Pep Boys and drop 30 bucks, I want to see if this could be an exception.

And I mean....I could go outside and TRY the aftermarket lugs but I'm afraid it'll go on and "look" like its fine, but its really not safe and will loosen up VERY quickly over time.

I just want to see if anyone has any "real" insight on this as I take saftey first, so if they will TECHNICALLY work but its not reccomended, I'd like to know.

Thanks!

EDIT: I actually have a spare Muteki lug with me right now and I put it up to the hole on the HX and it kinda looks like it will mate up fairly well. I mean...I know its possible to use them and drive up and down the driveway. But what will happen with time? Will the wheel become loose rather quickly?

EDIT: ****! I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum since its Technically related to Civics, but not exactly. Sorry mods!

I ran the Motegi (sp) lugs with my HX rims on my 87 Si back in '03 and never noticed any problems. Maybe there were but I didn't notice.

Hmm..not the answer I was expecting, but definitely the answer I hoped for. Either way this will be VERY brief as I dont expect to even own the HX's for more than another few weeks but I realllllly have to sell the Rota's on my car now to get some extra cash.

I got these HX's in a trade a week or so ago with BRAND new snow tires on them. The only lugs I own are my black mutekis I have on the car now. I hoped to take off the Rotas and throw on the HX's for the time being.

Thanks alot for your answer man, I appreciate it. I guess i'll toss them on for the time being, and just make sure I check them for looseness every few days and whatnot.

Ok....I just threw them on and took a spin around the block. I checked them again and they seem just as tight. I know one spin around the block isnt the "end all" test, but its ok.

I'll get OEM (style) ones within the next few days for sure, in the mean time i'll recheck them every day for sure to make sure all is well.

Thanks for all of your replies guys! Not one flame, all useful information. Don't see that too often

hey hey hey genius. I never said I cant afford them. I just dont have them in my hands right now and since the Rotas are sold, I have to get them off my car as soon as possible.

Thanks for the input though, very helpful. What would Honda-Tech do without you. Actually...i'll do ya one better, i'll vote for you to be the new civic/del sol forum moderator!
