Default Turbo GSR with Open Downpipe?

Hey guys i have a 1995 gsr with a t3/t4 57trim turbo with 2.5inch exhaust, and highflow cat (i know the exhaust set up is shitty for the turbo) set at 7psi. I have it street tuned (conservative) for a while now and its running great. I was thinking of just unhooking the cat and taking it off to run with an open DP for a race. Would this be a bad idea since it wasnt tuned with an open DP? Would it hurt if i tried it?

It won't change things that much. You'll be fine.

My car was Tuned with the exhaust on (3"DP, 3"pipes & Test Pipe )

Run with what you got Tuned with.

sorry bro, but you are way off..

this guy has a full 2.5inch exh(with cat), and he wants to take it off for a race.....

well since he was tuned with a full exh, and then takes it off, that is definitly going to outflow the full exh by a longshot..... enough to throw the A/F off by a point. (enough to start melting ****)

go ahead and take it off. but when you come back on here bitching about your pistons being melted ETC or whatever else happens... ill be the 1st guy to laugh out loud and say "told ya so"

GOOD LUCK.

I guess 2.5 is a whole different world than 3". Cause all I know is that when I take off my 3" and run open, the A/F hardly change. A whole point?? Woooowww. Tune it for 11.5 and then be at 12.5 open DP if you think it'll change that much....I doubt it. 12.5 isn't going to melt anything. Buuut whatever, do what you want, it's your car.

when i was running in fontana, i unhooked the whole exhaust ran open down pipe, made the car run more rich, since it wasnt tuned for open down, just run with wat it was tuned for

I asked my tuner (John Vega in Tampa Fl.) if it would be ok to run with an open DP without a re-tune. He said it should run fine. So im running with an open DP and its running well without any problems ie boost creep, melting ****, or blowing up. Sounds awesome too u can hear the turbo spool and u feel a noticable gain.

I dont know about other but this is my personal experience, i was tuned with a full 3 inch downpipe>exhuast, then i had to take the exhaust off for reasons and the car feel very sluggish.

Once i put the exhuast back on, it felt normal like the way it should
