Default Car completely STOPS on the freeway ????D15b2

This car is starting to **** me off. I need it for winter season though, but I'm in traffic going about 15 or less and the car just loses power. This happened before and it was the distributor my mechanic friend said. He wanted me to check back with him about the TDC but I assumed the timing was right.

I havn't changed the fuel filter since I got the car 3 years ago. Spark plug wires were changed, radiator, distributor, stay on top of oil changes. I assuming this is a fuel problem, once state patrol pushed me off the road(luckly) the car started right up. What kinda problem is this??? Engine has 185k automatic sedan.

I believe overheating of a fuel pump will allow the car to start after it dies randomly.

A main relay going out can cause the car to die randomly. Though usually the first sign of a bad relay is that the car will have a hard time starting when its hot.

main relay is common, also the ignitor in the distributor is known to fail randomly when hot

my dad's dodge 2500 had that (deisel) and he was at work and that happened so maybe that happens with gas also? never heard of but...

he just opened the hood waited 30mins or so and started it up and drove it to the dealers to get it worked on.
