Default Knocking sound when I hit the brakes / accelerate

Hey guys,

I have a 97 accord, after driving for about half and hour and engine is all warm, I hear a Knock or a "Tok" sound coming from inside the hood when I hit the brakes or accelerate. It's such an annoying "tok" sound. It doesn't come out all the time but it's 60% there when I hit the brakes and sometimes when I accelerate. I already changed the stab links, an engine mount, cleaned the brake pads. all seems in working order but the sound keeps coming back. Has anyone experienced this problem with their accord?

Please help me

i had the same problem. if there is up and down play in the wheel (when jacked) then it may be the cv joints.. mine ended up being messed up lug nuts. loose wheel.

hello kocheese,

just wanted to ask what a CV joint was. and when you meant by up and down play did you mean rotation or physically going up and down?

thanks

cv joint is right behind the brake rotor, it will be in a boot. Check to see if theres grease on the back of your front tires or anywhere around the boot. If there is, then youre boot is torn and you will probably need to replace the CV joint.

And yes he means phyiscally up and down.

The Cv joint is what allows the wheel to move up and down while its still being given power.. think of it as those rotatable socket set things.
