Default Mugen Twin Loop Exhaust

Anyone know what size the piping is on the Mugen Twin Loop? 2.25" or 2.5"?
Is there a USDM@ 2.25" and a JDM @ 2.5"?

NO Usdm and Jdm are the same size piping, except for the b-pipe I believe?
I think it's 2.25, not 2.5"!

So how do you connect the 2.5" collector of the Mugen header to the Mugen Twin Loop 2.25" exhaust

Most all aftermarket exhausts by the Japanese companies (Mugen, Spoon, Tanabe, Greddy, Apexi, etc.) for Integras are 60mm (2.36"). Exhausts by American companies (DC Sports, Comptech, etc.) are 2.25". Some companies like Thermal RD offer a "turbo" application in which case they use 3" piping. There are no mass-market 2.5" exhausts, for that you'd have to look to SMSP or HyTech.

EDIT: The exhaust doesn't bolt straight to the header, they both bolt to the catalytic converter. The JDM cat has a 2.5" inlet but same 1.75" outlet as USDM (that's why JDM exhausts bolt right up while JDM headers do not) . Kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me, maybe that's why the 98specR is still rated 197HP when it got the 4-1 header upgrade. I would never put on an exhaust that was smaller than the header collector, that's just asking for reversion right there.

Actually some those are 60.5 mm or 2.38 inches.
But there is some mass marketed 64-65mm or bigger exhausts in Japan.

So what do most people do when using the Mugen header and exhaust? how do they connect them?

The Spoon I'm pretty sure is also 60mm (or 60.5mm, doesn't change the ID at all anyway).

EDIT: From Spoon's website:

I think Kakimoto, Buddy Club (Spec III) and Type One catbacks are 2.5" systems..

So what's the point of the JDM Header 2.5" if they dont make an exhaust of 2.5"?

IMHO, there is no point. I don't know why people get JDM headers and connect them to a smaller exhaust. That's why I'm getting the HyTech 2.5" ($700, cheaper than the Mugen).

If you're getting big cams with big compression definitely go for bigger exhaust. I'm personally going 2.5" all the way through from header collector to cat to exhaust.

i am actually selling a mugen twin loop rear muffler section. mugen #MU98010 for a type R. $175 plus shipping. if you have the mugen header, you can get a 2 1/2 in and out free flow cat and get custon 2 1/2 in cat back piping made. i got it when i was in Hong Kong. i was going to put it on my hatch, but it is too large to fit correctly. this will be a very nice exhaust set up!
if anyone is interested e mail me at hanknatiz@peoplepc.com or give me a call 646 242 3910. im in New Jersey
Hank

Actually, exhaust gases cool down as they go back and when gases cool down they condense/contract, which basically means that if all a particular car truly needs is a 2.5 in collector at the header, then there is absolutely no reason that the car should need something like the kakimoto 70mm exhaust. Maybe the car doesnt even need a true 2.5 in exhaust.

If the car, does need more than a 2.5 in. diameter exhaust then maybe the 2.5 in collector at the header is a restriction.

Just my 2 cents.
