My first car-An Integra! How did I do?
Im 17 years old and I just bought my first used car. I have been saving up for years and it was purchased with my own money.
I got a 1994 Acura Integra 4 door.
It is forest green, automatic, and has 112k miles on it, along with brand new tires (Michelin Pilots) and 50% brakes left.
The dealer wanted 6400 out the door, but I managed to bring them down to 5300.
What do you think?

Well, I guess you did alright, but I'll say that I did better than you when I bought my first car. It was my summer junior year of high school, i was 18 and i bought a 944 turbo Porsche for 7800 with 72,000 miles on it. So I think I did better than you and my was a manual not a auto.

For being 17, and buying the car yourself, you did good. And who cares if it is an auto or manual. Makes no difference, Integras are great cars no matter what.
congrats... start saving at least 500 for an ls 5speed conversion
If the pilot sports are still new, sell them. You can get more tire for the money or save some $$

I would have liked a GSR, but none were available. Also, I would have gotten completely destroyed on insurance. Right now, my parents are paying 2 grand for full coverage, and that is with a good student discount.
I'm not even sure how much I will mod it yet. Most of the money I will make this summer will probably be going towards school.
First item is to replace the hubcaps. One of them is cracked, and the dealer said I could pick up brand new acura ones for like $20 a piece.

Yeah, that's the truth. I only had my 944 T for 9 months or so. I never had any problems, except when I was driving 5 mph or so, I hit the trip odometer and that fucked up the odometer
. I think it cost around $250 to fix. While it was being fix, I took it up to Colorado for a trip hehe. (I lived in Texas at the time. And my dad owned 2 928 both 89 sweet *** cars.

Yeah, good job on the whole buying the car yourself. I did that too last year when I was 16. I saved up 2 summers and a year of Blockbuster Video pay and got a 95 Silver LS Auto for 7000. I then sold it for 7000 (with intake & exhaust) a year later and bought myself a stick.
Thank the Big Gut that someone else bought their own car. I cannot figure out how 16/17 yr olds buy type R's and mod them. oh wait, Daddy does.
Way to go, trust me, buying it on your own, you will gain MUCH more respect for it than if the parents got it for you. You're better off in the long run. Trust me.

yea at least not all guys that are 17 are getting hand out from mommy and daddy Im 17 too and bought my Integra on my own(94 ls auto 121000 for 4500) and yes now i do want a 5 speed conversion. my best advice to you is study your car learn it inside out do your own work on it dont take it to the shop to get you oil changed and all that you can save money and learn by doing it yourself and doing it right .
