Default Dog gone semi trucks!

Short version.

Yesterday while driving down the freeway, a truck tire was kicked up and hit my car. It smashed the front lenses, tore off my front lip, cracked the front bumper, bowed out the front fender, and scratched everything to hell. My front end is now held on by zip ties and duck tape. The most annoying thing about it is the front bumper bulb got smashed, and now I have that damn annoying fast blinker **** going on. Arg. Oh well, time to go buy a bra for the front of the car to cover all of the damage up until I get some time to actually start fixing and painting.

That blows man. Sorry to hear it. At least it's all cosmetic damage, as opposed to frame/mechanical damage.

Oh, and I was kidding on getting that front end.

Sorry to hear it. Your definition of
scratched up pretty bad down the entire lentgh of it
is probebly what my whole car looks like. You do basically have a show car.

Same thing happened to me in February... tore the fender, shattered the bumper, tore up my CVs, bent my tie rod... all-in-all, very ugly. What pisses me off even more is that this is the 2nd time, the 1st occuring in June 99 on I-95 near Savannah... So, altogether, these tire incidents have cost me over $2400 out of my pocket.

OUCH! That sucks man. This is the second time mine was hit. The first time was not bad at all. I just needed to buff the car to remove the scratches it left.

I don't understand why truck tire re-treading is even legal considering the danger it poses to other drivers. The week before my incident, a lady on I-66 had a tire hit her E-class, shattered her windshield, she lost control, hit the center barrier and two other cars as well. All were hospitalized. I'm quite suprised the insurance companies haven't lobbied for more legislation regulating the use of these things...

B/c they were two separate instances, and I've calculated how much it would cost me through increased insurance rates if I report it as a comprehensive claim. You're essentially screwed until you're 25.

same thing happened to me too! passenger side fender was crumpled to hell, and there was rubber all over. thats all though, cus for me the tire came down basically came down from above... the car infront of me must have thrown it 20 feet into the air.

all is well now though. good luck on getting it fixed. remember, its just a car it can be repaired.

I got a funny one. Not very bad damage but annoying none the less...

I was driving on a highway what had no divider. I semi, driving the other direction, somehow threw a fairly big rock right at my bumper *CRACK!* and flew up in the air. We were like, "what the heck, that sucks...but WHERE DID THAT ROCK GO???"

A couple seconds later (remember we're driving about 60mph), it came back down and *DONK*, right on the hood!. Left a dent right in the middle of the hood and cracked the paint where it hit on the front bumper.

I bet i'm the first person to ever get hit twice by the same rock.

Anyone care to figure out how fast that rock was flying and how hard it hit?

Big James, that sucks... I know how you feel. I spent a week in a town called Payson AZ (where my buddy lives). It is about 175 miles away from Tucson where I live. Anyway this entire week was spent painting the my car (as it is). Every thing went great until the trip home Where as the hood, front bumper, passenger fender, driver side ( not sure how but both doors) met a 18 wheeler tire tread. SEMI's SUCK!!!!
