ball joints and poly bushings, what do you know about them????????????
i'm finishing up my bushing upgrade and now i have came to a hault. i can't seem to figure out how to install the poly boot on the ball joints.
i doesn't fit with the original boot on. and i cut the boot out (from the old ball joint i removed) and not only does it it flimsy, but i can't seem to get the ring clip on to hold the boot in place. this is getting quite fustrating.

I did my prothane bushing all around but that ball joints cover I can't get it on too. The stock one have a line around the cover so the ring could lock on but the after market don't. My best bet if you go with oem on that ball joint or if it not tear don't touch it.

that's just it, it doesn't take much to tear them. i was thinkingoff just putting it over the boot then installing them, but i'm afraid that the boot will pop underpressure with the poly boot over it.
MMMM...FRUSTRATED! anyone else has any other good suggestions?

leave the oem boot on if it's ok. if there's a tear then i suggest a new ball joint.

You can buy new OEM boots from Honda too.
I have a poly bushing kit myself. I'm basically replacing 10 bushings from the whole kit because there are a number of bushings that HAVE to be either rubber or spherical bearings. You switch them to poly and the handling gets twitchy.
Like the trailing arm main bushing and the rear LCA bushings.

yeah the rear trailing arm i was just planning to replace it with a new rubber one.
as far as for the ball joints, you see it's a whole suspension off of a 95 GSR original my cousin had the gsr, wrecked it, bought a 92 hatch, then sold it never using the suspension.
since the suspension was in great shape it was supposed to go on his hatch but never did. so it sat around his garage for about 4 years, then i bought a hatch 2 years ago and he sold it to me about a year ago.
so i decided to change out all the bushings, ball joints, bearings, etc. figured it a lot easier once it's out versus installing it then removing it again to make a repair.
so much for my story. but i appreciate the time and suggestions you guys put in.
thanks!

It's a good plan. Ball joint replacement sucks. I never could get the press on it correctly to push them back on. Pushing them out's pretty easy.
