Default bad smell coming from heater vents (06 si)

there as been a sour smell in my car for a while, seems to be coming from heater. some times its ok but if i drive hard it gets worst, it dosent smell like anti freese when im driving but it does when i first get in. i brought the car to a honda certified company, they checked it out but cant find any problems. :says they think it could be hot exhaust. i do have a dc sports full exhaust system on it, does any one have any ideas on this..

Is the exhaust system new?

I had a bad smell from my exhaust system for about 3 days after I had it installed. My mechanic warned me that it would smell for a while, until all the fabrication chemicals burned off.

I have an LX,when i first got it no smell; BUT now when i either turn on the a/c or the heater i get a weird funky smell too. Not sure what it is though next time i take it to the dealer i will ask them to service it or something.

It's the smell from the moisture that condenses there when you last turned it on. Try leaving it on for a while next time with just plain air blowing to clear out the moisture so next time you turn it on you won't smell anything.

It could be mold growing in your vent ducts, if it smells nasty but more biological(ish) then I'd try sparying disinfectant into where your cabin filter sits while the fans are on.

you could also try changing the filter behind the glovebox for the air ducts

My wife's CRV did this. Smell was not the anti-freeze. I changed the cabin air filter and it stopped the smell.

It's probably that dead mouse sitting on top of the cabin filter....

My 2005 Honda LX was BAD BAD BAD about this. Stank horribly after using the AC system. It's the moisture that condenses within the ducting. I was told that the easiest way to get rid of it is to spray Lysol into the intake duct while you have the fan on high (make sure that you aren't set to recycled air ). I personally haven't tried it, but I do think that it would work.

I would take it as soon as possible, otherwise you're looking at replacing a clutch AND the flywheel possibly!
