low mpg after oil change?
i have a 95 civic lx sedan. [77,000]
i've searched and foudn the guy with the h22 13mpg civic but i have a completely different scenario. other threads were about maintaining a good mpg.
so about a week ago i took my car into this new place because they were offering a discount for oil changes [10w30] and a free 12 point inspection. nothing was wrong with the car and i was maintaining about 22-23 mpg because i drive half freeway and half city. the problem now is that after i filled up my tank, i noticed that im getting lower mpg. ive only gotten about 100 miles for about 3/4 of a tank and i usually get about 220miles for a full tank. the weather has been cold lately but can weather significantly drop my mpg that much? my car is bone stock and i installed new subs recently. i had the subs inside my car before the oil change but they werent wired up.
anybody have any suggestions on whats going on? thanks for your time!

Well, for future reference the manual calls for 5W-30, though the 10W-30 shouldn't be an issue. It's quite possible your latest fill-up was a bad tank of fuel, which could be affecting your mileage.
i think they just poured fresh oil on top of the old oil. they said that the 10W-30 was the "recommended." im waiting for this tank to finish to see how much miles ive lost and hope that its just the bad tank of fuel =[. thanks for the advice!

i am a noob but yes, ive checked the oil and it does seem to be a bit over where it should be.
how am I suppose to take the oil out? -__-'
buy a oil drain pan from auto store, 17 mm socket will loosen the oil pan drain bolt, then drain it out. Good time to change filter too. Drain used oil into a milk container and bring to recycling center or auto store
