91Accord CB7 AT running on 3 cyl

Well here is the latest.
I found a coupon for a free fall vehicle inspection and so i dropped it off last night. I just got off the phone with the guy and he told me that they did a compression test and my #1 was at 185psi / #2 180psi / #3 10psi / #4 185psi. They suggested an enigine overhaul costing $5200. So since the car is problable worth 1/2 that at most, what should i do? Is there a way to tell exactly what is wrong and what needs to be fixed? Is there a cheaper way to do it myself? If so, can someone please point me to a good step-by-step tutorial on how to do it?
Thanks guys for all your help,

You could investigate further as to why #3 is so low. Could be broken rings, scored cylinder wall, or burned valve. A "leak down test" would narrow the cause. None of the fixes are cheap, however.

yes you can rotate the engine to where the cylinder valves are closed and then put compressed air into the cylinder. Then you can listen for where the air is coming out.
