Default car got slower?

How's it goin guys. This past weekend I was doin some racing with my buddies and I was getting beat pretty good by my buddy with a gsr. he's got all the bolt ons with no computer upgrade and he was getting me by a half car. A couple months back at the track I was beating him by 3-4 tenths at the quarter mile. The only difference now is I put jdm 16's on my car compared to the stock 15's. I know your car slows down with bigger wheels but by that much? now he's beating me by a couple of tenths? The car still feels good but it has to be slower. Have you guys noticed this with wheel size difference? I don't know, guess it's time for some drag rads on some 15's. what you guys think.

Wheels/Tires will only make a difference if the O.D. changes.

Wheel/tire weight will also make a difference.

Well think about that Best Motoring video where a JDM ITR punishes an SIR (GSR?) in the 1/4. If both cars are healthy and the GSR is stock (or equivalent mods) your race should be identical.

True, but I think OD would matter more than weight because your changing the gearing essentially.

both will matter OD and weight.....especially rotational weight....it will take more energy to move a heavier and larger wheel.....

But that much? That's why I suspect the OD has changed a bit. I can see how rotational weight makes a difference, but not the difference he's talking about.

there cannot be that big of a weight difference in stock 15s vs stock 16s can there?.. and unless you have some crazy sized tire the OD shouldnt be affected..

my guess is that he is spinning more off the line or has crappier tires than before.... of course it is hard to tell from what info he has given.....

You should be destroying the GSR... I raced one with full Skunk2 head package, nice intake system, nice exhaust system, CTR pistons and a V-AFC tune (Not the best, but still, better). And I pulled 2 cars... With my A/C on, and a bad Oxygen Sensor.

Do some basic maintenence, that might be the issue.

Maybe it's not that your car slower, but his car got that much faster!

But post your tire size, maybe you increased the OD accidently. As mentioned before, try putting the 15's back on.

Sounds like they didn't tighten the lugs to the right torque specs. With one lug missing/broken you shouldn't notice such a sound.

Just tighten all the lugs to 80 ft./lbs.

I got ten miles out of Danville and starting hearing a creaking noise only to find out I hadn't torqued one of my front wheels.

65k on the R, compression and leak down are fine. vehicle gets drivin not even once a week. I think it must have been traction because his car was getting me at the end of first and going into second. dam new england cold weather!!

This is most likely the situation.

Gsr doesnt just pull on an itR... probably has cams and a tune with everything else you mentioned.
