Weight Calculator for Metals
Hey fellas,
A few people have IM/PMed me recently about something I mentioned in another post and I thought I'd share it. It's nothing fancy, but it's pretty quick and accurate. Basically, it's a spreadsheet that calculates the weights of metals (steel and aluminum) in various shapes (round bar, square bar, hex stock, flat stock, and round tubing). You simply change the areas of the spreadsheet that are shaded in blue and it will show you the weight of the material. The weight will be displayed in lbs./foot and total weight. The left column will show the weight of a steel piece and the right side will show the same size stock made of aluminum.
It has been helpful a few times for me. Hopefully, some of you can find a use for it as well.
Here's the link:

Hey dfoxengr,
Thanks for the link.
That page has a lot more options for materials and shapes than the one I made, plus, like you said... no need to download.
Take care,
Mick
