upgrading alarm siren...
anyone know any brands or places that sell much louder sirens for alarms...right now i have 2 sirens in my engine bay, and still can't hear them for ****...they are some generic sirens i bought off ebay...anyone if they make sirens that are really loud and that can be hooked up to an existing alarm?
I replaced my siren with one made by DEI, it is about the size of your fist and is loud as ****! I accidently set it off while I had my hood open and it physically hurt my ears. Any local stereo shop should have them.
i dont know if your generic sirens are quieter.. but all the sirens from the bigger companies (Clifford, Viper/DEI, Alpine are about 123db... I think because of noise ordinance laws or something.. they have to be under 125db or something like that and the alarm has to reset/turn off itself in a few minutes... I forget... anyway I have my Clifford Siren (123db I think) in my hood go off in addition to my Hella air horns (125db).. its loud as hell when it goes off.. i also have an internal siren that emits a really high pitched sound inside the cabin in case the theif says f*&k the alarm.. imma break in anyway... it literally hurts your ears cuz its so high pitch and loud...
these are the 2 sirens i have...

it says they are 125 DB each but they are weak *** hell...
anyone know what else i can do to make my alarm a LOT louder?

Buy a name brand like DEI (all of $15) and make sure it's aimed towards the gound (with a mostly unobstructed shot.) I'd try one good siren installed properly and add as necessary.

its as easy as connecting the + and - wire (solder) from the alarm brain to the siren which should already be run into the engine bay from your existing/old siren... and mounting the new one...
do you have to do anything special, like get some sort of amplifier, to run more than one? sorry for the stupid question, but I have no idea how alarms and sirens work.
just use a relay if you plan to use a lot of sirens or more than your alarm outputs.. I have sirens in the engine bay, along w/ in cabin sirens/pain generators, and also have my air horns hooked up to my alarms "pulsed' output... when my alarm goes off its loud as hell.. havent had any problems for over 3 yrs..
