EGR valve has vacuum at idle???
96 accord LX. When i first start this car no vacuum at idle to EGR valve as it should be. The problem starts after i drive it and then come to a stop. When driving/cruising the EGR valve is going to have vacuum to it but shouldnt when i come to a stop but it does. My question is what bleeds off the vacuum when the car comes to a stop and is at idle? Anyone ever had this problem before?
here is a link to a picture of the components in question

Item #1 is a vacuum control valve, that has to be what bleeds off the vacuum.
from what i understand item #2, the solenoid simply allows or blocks vacuum going to the EGR valve or is it the solenoid the bleeds the vacuum?
I know Toyotas bleeds it off at the solenoid. Maybe Honda is the same way.

That orfice was always a problem in the older 86-89 LXi accords, you should be able to pass some air thru the egr vacum line with the engine off. If not backtrack the line to the solenoid and shoot some brake clean and compressed air thru it. Carb cleaner is not a good idea, too harsh for the plastics.
well i figured out what happened. it does bleed off at the vacuum solenoid. the problem was the vacuum lines were backwards. The vacuum line going from the egr to the solenoid is suppose to be on the top port. I had it on the bottom. No more vacuum at idle, car doesnt bog down and die anymore. Hope this helps someone trying to figure this out in the future. Check your vacuum routings!!!
If you want to help people with 96 accords and EGR problems, just tell them to go to the dealer, Honda has an extended warranty and will replace anything that turns on the check engine light for a certain list of vehicles..
I have a 92' accord and the check engine light is on. my car shuts off at any time after its warmed up or when i put it in neutral, thats only when the light is off. When the light is on the car runs perfect but just sluggish, lack of power, but burn gas faster. i checked my egr valve and there is no vacuum. I don't know if its the egr solenoid or the actual egr valve. Any suggestions on what it might be?
