Default obd1 conversion

Has anyone done a obd1 conversion on a 2000 gsr (obd2 ver.2)

I tried, but the car will not idle. the obd1 ecu is fine and the harness is also good.

but the car dies after 2 second when i start it. The a/f gauge reade lean and then dies.

any help would be appreciated.

-thanks

i did ... i have a 2000 gsr also and i'm running an obd1 hondata prepped ecu and it works great.

when i first got the obd1 ecu, i plugged it in with a skunk2 harness and drove around and everything was fine .. no hesitation. the car never died while idling but the rpm's did drop a little lower than normal during intial startup but then the car just settled down into normal idle range (not lower than 750rpm).

I have the OBD1 and I had to loosen the idle screw on the throttle body all the way out, my car revs up and down when I come to a stop from around 800 rpms to 1400 rpms. You have to get the OBD1 series throttle body to match the ecu, this is because on the OBD1 cars the TB has an extra valve on the TB that controls the idle, and on the OBD2 cars, the TB does not have it. I have only been told this by JOTECH motorsports and have not had the the money to do this swap myself, but it is on my list.

trigun and jteasy

thank for the info.

I didn't know that i would have to swap out the throtttle body to get the obd1 ecu to work properly. I guess i'll have to do that to try and fix the problem.

I also read some posts that i have to get a obd1 distributor to get it to work properly.

do you know how much a throttle body from a obd1 gsr would cost?

I have the same problem here with my OBD1 conversion but in my case
I have a 2001 GS converted to Stick with 99 GSR tranny then Skunk2 Harness + 95 OBD LS 5 speed ECU.

Came cross with 3 problems:
1. RPM Needle doesn't funtion..... (Mechanic found out that was a wire missing or some sort... so he adds an extra line from coil to the ecu to make it work)

2. Car doesn't idle right when i start it....... running lean, Stalling and then shut down.... Any Ideas?

3. Cruise control doens't work..... I don't have Clutch Switch on mine
so the car starts without ingage the Clutch

Anyone??

Please help?

Car idles suck and what happened to me today was the car shut down during rush hour traffic then it won't start till i tried 2 mins.....

ANY helps would be helpful~~

please help

I have a 1998 Gs-R in my hatch wired to a 1995 Gs-r Ecu i had the problem with the idling kinda surging up then dropping off like a small rev but i took it back to the guy and he just plugged up one of the vaccum lines thaT i no longer needed and it runs great now..... i did not have to replace the throttle body or anything.... it costed me 400 dollars to get it wired up...... i was told that i wouldnt have a fast idle because of the difference but everything works fine like i said..... but maybe something is different to the 00?? no shops u can ask??
