Default wideband sensor location

Hello-

Will this location be suitable for my wideband sensor? Too close? Too far from the turbo?

Thanks!

That would be a lot better, I just put mine in the stock location and it reads dead on with the one on the dyno.

that would be alot better, but make sure you dont set it up so the dump is right next to it. Maybe try mounting it from the front so the sensor points towards the motor? ****, i moved mine all the way to the back of the motor since i couldnt find a decent place up front and havent had any problems.

Thanks for the replies

The dump tube would be extended past that point, so it wouldnt come near the sensor. I have read anywhere from 12- 24" away from the turbo exit. The only reason I feel rushed to do this is because I cant weld, and I am makin a drive to see a buddy who can (and I need an EGT bung welded also) I would put it at the back of the motor, but my downpipe ends with a flex bellow where your sensor is and I dont have an exhaust yet

I am ~15min south of baltimore. I have been building this car for around 3 years now

OEM 81.5mm sleeves
cp 9:1, eagle rods, ACL bearings, ferrea valves, portflow/type r springs, type r retainers
peakboost FTW AC mani, turbonetics t3/t4 3" DP + exhaust
braided fuel lines, GE rail, aeromotive FPR, earls filter, walbro in tank pump, unknown fuel injectors
unknown engine management
teg brakes + suspension

Josh- I see you have a roll cage, looks great from what I can see! Do you know how to TIG weld?

the wideband sensor is suppose to be located about 24" downstream from the turbo. you didnt read the instructions?

no i cant tig sorry, but i can mig... as you can see, i learned on my exhaust lol

I did however get some stuff tig'd at autofab race cars on rt 1. They did two bungs for me for like $40 (i think it was). so that might be another option for you.

Motor setup sounds good

i used to have my sensor like 6" from the turbo and i would fry them in like 1000 miles. since then i put all them right between the firewall and the intermediate shaft on the downpipe, no more fouled sensors

I dont have a wideband yet, I am trying to plan in advance

However - if you would be so kind... What kind of connector does the sensor use? An OEM honda connector, or bare wire? I ask because this needs to be wired into my harness, and my harnees needs to be done soon (its holding me back)

Does the wideband wiring have any shielding around it?

Josh - I will look into Autofab Race Cars - looks like its very close to me!!!

Thanks for saving my prospective o2 sensor(s)!

Sebastian

Im personally only familiar with aem Wbs. As far as what you need to do as far as wiring would depend on what type of management you want to run and how you want to run it (open loop/closed loop) With most ems' u can turn ur O2 feedback off and you technically dont need an O2 sensor at all.

For the actual wiring, with the aem gauge type, you run from the sensor to the gauge, then you just have one 0-5 volt line that you can run straight to the ecu. Like i said, im not sure about the other sensors, but more than likely, u can plan to not use ur engine bay harness for your WB O2.

Someone will correct this or put in info for the differnt WB types...

since your running an egt also, heres what i did with aem sensors an ems...

Used the wires for the stock O2 sensor to run the egt sensor into the cabin and just repined the ecu. Ran the O2 sensor to the gauge, then the 0-5 volt to the ecu. That was about the cleanest way i could find to do it.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I am actually redoing the entire engine harness. I am relooming it and using circular AMP connectors to bring everything through the firewall.

http://sebastianstewart.net/amp2.JPG

I planned on using a PLX M300 Wideband setup. The EGT already has dedicated pins on one of the connectors, and I can plan to have dedicated pins for the OEM o2 sensor as well as the PLX unit.

I just wanna know how many pins total to dedicate to my o2 sensors

I will probably just order the damn thing new rather than searching for a used one and planning around it.... and see if I cant save enough free pins to run both OEM and WB o2 sensors if need be?

Thanks!

yea i had over 2 years into my car and i wasnt going to take the time to make a whole harness Before you go to far with your harness, you should really pick you ems, thats going to impact some of the wiring

hey, first pic is way too close and the second one is kinda iffy with the dumptube right there, if u could, put it back a little further like right in front of where the cat would go, usual stock location, this is the best, i put mine there and it reads perfect and has lasted for over a year now..........too close and u'll burn out the sensor quit frequently and too far, u wont get a good reading......hope this helps

Thanks! The car was turbo a few years ago but I spun a rod bearing and was at school, so I am just now rebuilding it. Absolute Pro Performance built the block for me

I am using the OEM location, thanks for all the advice to do to
