Default Key trick?

Dammit. After all these years with never losing my keys, it happened this week...but in this case, it was key, singular. I did the search on here and found a few pointers for cheap replacement, but have any of you guys with RRs been through this? I don't have the key code paperwork anymore, so do I have to remove the tank lock...or....???

Any help or advice appreciated, however brief. Or feel free to pull the "Ha ha!" like Nelson on The Simpsons. I deserve it.

TIA

take your registration to a dealer, they may be able to cut a new key from that.

If you have AAA I think they can mold you one for like couple bucks, if not then i think its 100. Thats what i did with my car, should be the same with a bike though.

When I needed a key, they wouldnt do it like that.. they would only make duplicates of my existing key or if I had that little number plate that came with the key, they would cut it out of that.

You didn't get a little metal piece on your keys with your key code on it when you bought the bike? Its like .5" x .25" in size.

I just take my ignition lock down to this guy in East LA, give him a twenty, then twenty minutes later he gives me a key.

Well, no go with AAA and I lost my metal plate somehow during the move to Nashville. Son of a bitch. It's killing me not to ride and worse yet, to know that the key's around the house or garage SOMEWHERE. Anyway, back to looking...it's 65 degrees here today and blue skies...and I need to be on that bike!
