Default headgasket/cam gear setting?

Ok i have been searching for over an hour now and cant really find anything on it. I have read a post before that stated this stuff but cant seem to find it now. Anyways i am planning to use a single layer (middle layer) headgasket on my motor and forgot how much i need to advance/retard the camshafts to "zero" them the head and block have not been milled.

milling the head and running a thinner headgasket RETARDS the cam timing. I hope you have checked clearances like piston to valve and quench. Thats a lot to take off without checking

I know you didnt mill the head but its the same principle. I'm not sure exactly how much to turn the gears to compensate. What kind of cams are they. probably shouldnt be on zero anyway but thats another story.

The cam will be retarded 1.2 degrees for every .01" taken off/out.

they need to be degreed, zero is an irrelevent number. if not that, then put it on a dyno and see what works.
