Default ECU

forgive me if this sounds dumb but i'm tottaly clueless, what is the purpous of an buying an aftermarket ECU for a 98 GS-R can i make v-tec hit earlier or something? i'd appriciate if someone filled me in

It's usually for people who have modified their engines quite alot and need specific tuning done to it. Usually though for a gsr u would just keep ur original ecu and get it chipped/tuned. Changing ur vtec engagement to an earlier point on a fairly stock engine would just make it perform worse. Aftermarket ecu chipping,tuneing is only needed for fairly heavy modified engines like forced induction or fully built N/A.
