Default Safety in this seat installation?

For installing after market seats does anyone see anything wrong if i did this:

Bolt a thick piece of steel across the bottom of the new seats which will in turn bolt to the existing bolt holes or existing seat rails.

I am just wondering if it is safe? I will still be using the stock bolting holes regardless of what I do, but I am just curious if a think piece of steel will still be safe, used with a high grade bolt, nut, and washers of course...?

Thanks for input.
