Q: what are the consequences when .... please read on.
what are the consequences when the stock axleback muffler is installed back on this motor setup?
ej hatch
2.0L non-vtec b20b na
custom ram (cold) air intake system
stage 2 cams / sk2 cam gears (dyno tuned)
4-2-1 header / hi-flow cat / itr midpipe / fireball axleback muffler
itr clutch/flywheel/etc...
this setup was dyno tuned with the fireball muffler.
now the stock axle back muffler is installed back on.
besides performance, exhaust gases suffocatoin and a little more engine vibration what else will it hurt?
will the stock muffler actually restrict so much exhaust gases that it will be push back to the header and physicaly damaged the motor? (thats why the engine vibrates more?)
what do u think?
will the stock muffler actually damage the motor? or just plainly hurt the performance of the engine?
any comments or input will help.
thank you.

well it deafinately puts more pressure on the engine, how much? i have no idea... are you going to keep it this way?

no, only for the next 4 months. the stock muffler will be replaced in spring time with some thing better eg. sk2 or DC tc or something else.

love it!!!
its totaly in silent mode (stealth). the car feels faster on the freeway since its passing cars in stealth mode where before other cars will hear this fireball muffler even before the car is nearing...
i totaly love the stealth mode stock exhaust. it looks so much better imo and its quiet. now, i cant hear the rumbling exhaust anymore inside the house when im running the car outside in the garage.
but i do feel alot more engine/chasis vibration since all the spent exhaust gases are not flowing freely out the muffler.
(also maybe becuz ive upgraded the mounts and have a engine tq dampener since '02)
anyways, the car is so quiet now and all i can hear is the actuall engine noise and (now) maybe a front left wheel bearing aswell.
before with the fireball muffler all u hear is the loud rumbling spitting ehaust note but now u can actualy hear how the engine sounds and how the car squeeks and rattles.
thanx for the replies, anymore...?

im not sure what kind of car you have but i think you might really enjoy having a stock ITR axle back, i believe there 2.25 and are very quiet, but flow pretty good.
