i second the opinion on running rich, carbon build up from running rich is somewhat normal and your total miles per tank aren't unusual, so it isn't anything to be overly concerned about

How black are we talkin here? My tegs white, and after a full tank of gas only a little bit of black will show. If its not too much, and judging from your miles per tank, I'd say your engines running jsut fine and its normal for a white teg. I dont buy the piston ring story. Saying its your piston rings from the residue on your bumper is bs

mine gets black always. but i wash her once a week so i clean it out good. black smoke means running rich aka dumping fuel. usually that smoke comes out when you hit vtec or downshift into a high rpm.

excessive fuel pressure, plugged pcv, dirty air filter(doubt that yours a clogged) can cause rich mixtures. there are other system that can cause rich condition as well.

do you have any engine codes? maybe ect,o2 sensor.

is your ecu chipped?
