rear bumper turning black. why? HELP!
My rear bumper turns black where the exhaust area is (right side).. Am i running rich or something.. my gsr has 101k on it. my oil does burn but thats only when im in vtec often, if not i dont kill that much oil. and my mpg is pretty good too. about 285 on a full tank.

i second the opinion on running rich, carbon build up from running rich is somewhat normal and your total miles per tank aren't unusual, so it isn't anything to be overly concerned about

YES my car is white, it's really noticable and gets on my nerve.
this mechanic said it could be my piston rings and said itll cost 800. is he bs just to make money?
just ihe. so how do i fix it? tune?

How black are we talkin here? My tegs white, and after a full tank of gas only a little bit of black will show. If its not too much, and judging from your miles per tank, I'd say your engines running jsut fine and its normal for a white teg. I dont buy the piston ring story. Saying its your piston rings from the residue on your bumper is bs

excessive fuel pressure, plugged pcv, dirty air filter(doubt that yours a clogged) can cause rich mixtures. there are other system that can cause rich condition as well.

it turns more black than anyone would prefer trust me.. its not just a little.

no i have no engine codes. ecu is stock.
