JDM NSX-T? Quick question
Hey guys, I have a quick question, my friends dad best friend owns a turboed NSX. I was talking to my friends dad and he said that it was a Japanese one, and that if it was sold in the USA it would have cost around 80k+. Also it still has the orginal H emblems but its LHD. I'm curious but does anyone know anyone who has done this? Also my friends dad best friend is BIG into NSX's and is part of about 10 different NSX clubs and owns his own body/engine shop. I haven't gotten to talk to him personally since I've only met him 3 times. And 2 of the times my friend never told me it was him, because she didnt know it was such a big deal
But my question is the guy bought it in the US, so he must have bought it from a guy who bought it in japan and then converted it back to LHD correct? Wouldn't you just leave it RHD for the true JDM feel

He doesn't seem like the guy who would do that though. I will probably see him in a week or 2, and I'll get some pictures if its at the shop for you guys. And I'll ask him about it.
Aside from having to replace the steering rack and a multitude of other useless modifications he would have to make to convert a JDM NSX into a right hand driver, he would also have to pay ~20k to import, and then have to purchase the car as USED from an importer. In addition, the JDM spec NSX-T 97' or later while having the benefit of a 3.2l would still only make 275hp as opposed to the US spec for the same year 290hp. On the other hand, the JDM wheels are ~2lbs lighter per corner.
The import tariffs, markup, and other brewhaha are the reason why US citizens pay $90-100 thousand for a R34 Skyline that costs a mere $55,000USD Yen adjusted in Japan. Now that the R34's are out of production and are being replaced/based on the god-aweful G35/350Z platform who gives a rip. I digress though...
The Acura symbol to Honda symbol swap is a one hour job, and a walk thru can be found at Science of Speeds website: http://www.scienceofspeed.com Its a very common modification, and I have personally seen 10+ NSX's with the swap.
To summarize, unless your buddy's dad blew $35 grand before adding a turbo to a slower USED car, its not a JDM NSX. What color is the car? There are only a few turbo NSX's in the US and I may know some history on the car.

Hey guys, I haven't talked to him directly about his NSX. He isn't a young guy either. It was my friends dad who talked to him, and he could have misinterpreted what his friend said. I will have to talk to him directly in a week, and find out the whole story. He is a big NSX fan so its either my friends dad interpreted it wrong OR he bought it used from someone here who already did all of that. But I'll keep you guys updated on it. Also its a BRIGHT BRIGHT RED.
either way. My understanding of the NSX is that you get nothing in the JDM car that we dont here sans the honda badging... The motor and all is the same. Just RHD to LHD.
Unless he has an S-Type or an S-Type Zero. But those are stripped down models.
