Eractic idle on 88 SI.....

Eractic idle on 88 SI.....
I am posting for a friend...
When I am driving along and get to a stop sign, light, whatever the cars RPM climbs to ~3500 and will stay there. If I feather the pedal a little it will come back down. It also does this when the car is at idle. The problem is sporatic and the car was recently tuned up because of this problem. What could be wrong?
Any ideas guys?
PS: This car is totally stock!

check your vaccuum lines, sounds like a vaccuum leak off one of the map sensors. 88s have 2 map sensor and feed off a number 22 and 12 marked vacuum line, I checked mine earlier this week and the 12 had a tiney cut in it. I just replaced and idle problems were all fixed. HTH
